Winners announced in the free visual art challenge for children in London and Essex

Children & the Arts are delighted to announce the winners of their free visual art challenge the Take pArt Challenge, supported by the Jack Petchey Foundation. The Take pArt Challenge was open to young people aged 11-14 years in London & Essex.

The challenge was designed to increase arts participation and inspire a passion for the arts in young people who might not normally take part in visual arts activities. This year’s theme is Evolve, and young people could enter any 2D artwork.

The prize giving was held at the V&A Museum of Childhood, where the three category winners were announced: Jonathan McDonagh, Jessika Kapur and Zoe Warner.

Each winner won £500, plus £1000 for their school. They were also given art materials which were kindly donated by Pebeo.

The artworks were judged by a panel of celebrity judges: Neil Buchanan (TV presenter and musician), Jim Kay (Illustrator for Harry Potter), Frances Segelman (Sculptor), Andria Zafirakou (Global Teacher Prize 2018 Winner), Bambi (Street Artist), Heather Kay (Educator at South London Gallery) and Eloise Fornieles (Artist).

The creative sensibility & skill is so high that its been almost impossible to pick any winners .....
