Children & the Arts is actively seeking passionate and committed partner arts organisations to work with us to develop and deliver Start for primary, secondary and special schools around the UK.

Children & the Arts set up the Start programme to enable school children to experience the very best of the arts by introducing them to a local cultural organisation. The 3-year programme is targeted to reach areas where relationships between particular schools and cultural organisations don’t already exist. At the heart of the Start programme is the desire to make cultural organisations accessible for a new generation.

Applications are open for prospective Start partners in particular regions of England. To find out more about Start and the criteria for applying, please click one of the links below.

Please note that applications are currently only open to cultural organisations in the regions outlined above. Please contact Eibhlish Fleming, Senior Project Manager, if you have any questions relating to the application process.

Children & the Arts is delighted to be working in partnership with several of Arts Council England’s Bridge Organisations to deliver Start.
