Children & the Arts hosts private view of Be Inspired Art Auction Over 300 guests started the weekend off by attending Children & the Arts’ Be Inspired Preview and Party on Friday night, hosted in the impressive Christie’s auction house in St James’s, and surrounded by spectacular works from their upcoming Post-War and Contemporary (PWC) art evening and day sales. Amongst these works were the fourteen pieces, which have been kindly donated for sale in aid of Children & the Arts, as well as some highlights from the charity sale included in the PWC art online auction. Talking about our pieces, Leonie Grainger, Director of PWC Art and Head of Day Auction at Christie’s said: “[The Be Inspired works] offer a compelling snapshot of art today, ranging from Ibrahim El-Salahi’s path-breaking vision of African modernism, to exciting new work from eminent YBAs Gavin Turk and Jake and Dinos Chapman, via some of the brightest emerging talents in British American and European art, like Samara Scott, Charming Baker, Grear Patterson and Jonas Burgert.” Greeted with a glass of Laurent Perrier champagne, and armed with the Be Inspired Preview catalogue designed by Eightyone Interactive and printed by Ink Group Design and Print, our guests took in the Be Inspired exhibition before heading upstairs to the Great Rooms to hear a heartfelt speech from Children & the Arts’ Ambassador Jeremy Irons on the importance of arts engagement from a young age. So compelling were his words, that over a dozen guests raised their hands as part of the ‘Patron Appeal’ led by Jeremy Irons and Christie’s Auctioneer Hugh Edmeades, offering to support Children & the Arts over the next year through their Patron Programme. A huge thank you to our event sponsors – Floreat Group, Harbottle & Lewis and Momart – and of course our esteemed Art Committee, chaired by our Trustee Hussam Otaibi, and Event Committee, chaired by Elizabeth Pelly.
