Pick Your Own Art Form
Create-a-Quest introduced children from schools around the UK to a variety of creative art forms. Thousands of children were given the confidence to feel comfortable in their local cultural venue and to explore art, drama, dance or music.
About Create-a-Quest
Create-a-Quest launched in July 2008 with training days for teachers from all the classes involved in the project. Teachers all received a specially produced book full of inspiring ways to use the arts in the classroom.
Through the Autumn and Winter terms a programme of visits introduced thousands of children to their local gallery, museum, theatre, historic house or concert hall. This was followed by workshops in the classroom led by professional arts practitioners, inspiring the children to explore the arts and to be creative.
The grand finale in February 2011 celebrated the work that the children had created. As well as an exhibition of drawings, poems, sculptures, models and crafts, there were also some very special school performances of dance, poetry, theatre and music. A very proud day for all involved.
Who was involved?
Sponsored by Land Securities, the project worked with 42 schools around the UK. The grand finale of the project took place at St Mary’s Church, London.
