DanceQuest 2012/13 is a national dance project designed by The Prince’s Foundation for Children & the Arts and generously supported by the MariaMarina Foundation and the J Paul Getty Junior Charitable Trust.
This project will link The Birmingham Hippodrome, The Lowry in Salford, Festival City Theatres Trust in Edinburgh and Sadler’s Wells in London with 4 schools in each area, introducing 800 11-13 year olds to Dance in a wide range of forms.
Over the 2012/13 academic term, children from selected schools will view two professional dance performances in an inspiring arts venue and work regularly with dance professionals in-school. The project will culminate with a finale event in each region, recognising the young people’s achievements over the course of the project.
DanceQuest will build a lasting relationship between the young people, schools and venues involved, introduce children to professional dance, and transform children’s confidence and aspirations. So far, the project has had a hugely positive effect on both teachers and their pupils.
Below are a collection of images from the London DanceQuest finale where 400 pupils performed bespoke dance routines on the stage of Sadler’s Wells inspired by professional performances seen at the iconic venue. You can find out more about this event here.
