Catalyst Teacher Training

Struggle for confidence when teaching the arts? Looking for some fresh lesson ideas you can use across the curriculum? Catalyst is a programme of inspiring arts-based teacher training days running across the academic year.

At each Catalyst day teachers work with professional artists to focus on interactive and innovative teaching ideas for Key Stage 2 (P3-P6). The day works with between one and three art forms from poetry, visual arts, drama, storytelling, dance and music. There are a maximum of 30 places available per day so we strongly recommend advance booking as places fill up quickly.

The training day has reminded me about how important art is and given me some great ideas, particularly cross–curricular, to implement in the classroom. (Teacher)

At the end of the day each participant receives a 120-page Catalyst Book for Teachers, which provides a lasting resource and contains 60 different arts activities. We also now offer bespoke Catalyst INSET days, available on request.

Each day costs just £45 per person. Catalyst is generously funded by the Maaike McInnes Charitable Trust and supported by a donation in memory of Sue Warner, Teacher.

We have finished our programme for 2012/13. Dates for the coming academic year will be posted in September.

Please keep checking the website or email catalyst@childrenandarts.org.uk to be kept up to date will full details of our training days in 2012/13.
