Classroom Resources

TheatreQuest
The TheatreQuest Teaching Materials produced to support our TheatreQuest project. It includes a specially commissioned play ‘A Singer From The Desert Came’ written by award-winning children’s author Jamila Gavin as well as a series of activities to use alongside a drama piece in the classroom. The activites range from ways to build characters and confidence when performing as well as how to create a set and make costumes from recycled materials.

StoryQuest
28 Ways to Turn Children into Storytellers was written especially for Children & the Arts to provide tips on storytelling and better ways of engaging children in stories, for teachers, parents and cultural venues alike. Activities range from storymapping (creating a map detailing the place described in a story) to creating a dedicated story bench in the playground where anyone with a story to tell or someone wanting to hear a story should sit.

MusicQuest
The MusicQuest Book for Teachers supports our MusicQuest project. Written by specialist music educator Cathryn Dew, the MusicQuest Book for Teachers contains information about the orchestra and its instruments alongside introductions to ‘classical’ orchestral pieces ranging from the mid eighteenth to the late twentieth centuries. The exploration of each piece is broken down into five sections: 1) What’s the story?;  2) Listen out…;  3) About the composer; 4) Get Creative…; and 5) Further listening.
