Children & the Arts offers internship positions on a regular basis. These usually last for three months and will provide those selected with an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a new children’s education charity which aims to bring the arts, in all its many rich forms, to children in the UK who would not otherwise have these opportunities.

Internship Vacancy

We are currently seeking a bright, enthusiastic and committed person to join our small team for 3 months, starting towards the end of July 2010.  This is an excellent opportunity to gain experience in a young charity which aims to bring the arts, in all its many rich forms, to children in the UK who would not otherwise have the opportunity. 

 

General information
Position Description: Children & the Arts Intern

Duration: After a 2 week trial the successful candidate will join the team for 3 months
Days per week: 2-3 days (although there is some flexibility depending on candidate’s availability)
Hours: 9.30am-5.30pm, 1 hour for lunch with some flexibility around evenings. 
Allowance: The internship is unpaid however we are able to cover reasonable travel and lunch expenses. 
Location: The central London office of Children & the Arts. 

 

Key areas of work include:

  • Communicating with arts partners and organisations around the UK. 
  • Supporting the Project Team in organising events and administration for art specific projects. 
  • Assisting the team in a variety of event and office based tasks to support fundraising and development activities.
  • Some administrative assistance for the Chief Executive. 
  • Research. 
  • Administrative duties including filing, updating database, assisting with event planning, drafting letters, responding to enquiries, data collection, etc.

Person specification:

  • Candidates must have some relevant work experience and be able to demonstrate their commitment to the aims of the charity. 
  • A passion for inspiring and educating children by introducing them to the very best of the arts. 
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Administrative and organisational skills, including experience with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook and Excel).
  • Good telephone manner and ability to take clear messages.
  • Willingness to undertake a wide range of duties.
  • Motivated and dedicated team player with the ability to work under pressure.
