PoetryQuest Project Launches
Children & the Arts latest projet PoetryQuest, supported by Bank of America Merrill Lynch, launches this week with a teacher training day at Exeter Phoenix.
The project will work with over 700 children aged 9 to 11, introducing them to performance poetry and developing a relationship between young people and their local arts venue. As well as working with Exeter Phoenix the project is also working with ARC Stockton and Half Moon Young People’s Theatre in London.
After the initial teachers’ days at each venue the young people will then visit the venue to see a poetry performance before going back to school and working with local professional poets to develop their own poems.
The project culminates in performances at each venue for the young people to showcase their compositios to their friends and family as well as everyone else involved in the project.
