Catalyst-Inspiring Arts Ideas for Teachers

Catalyst, designed and run by The Prince’s Foundation for Children & the Arts, is a series of six professional development days for Key Stage 2 teachers held across the UK.

On Friday 9^th October PoetryQuest’s training day took place at the Ikon Gallery in Birmingham.

Teachers from all 16 schools involved attended the day, along with partners from the four galleries involved. They looked at practical ideas and inspiration for Poetry and Visual Arts within the project with poet John Lindley and arts educator Ghislaine Kenyon. They also heard from Julie Blake from the Poetry Archive and toured the Ikon with James Cangiano, the gallery’s education manager, drawing on the exhibition in their workshops. All teachers received a copy of the PoetryQuest book for Teachers, which is available on the Poetryquest page. Planning for the next stage of the project is now taking place regionally.
