‘Coram Boy’ Creator Jamila Gavin Pens a New Play for TheatreQuest
TheatreQuest organised by The Prince’s Foundation for Children & the Arts and supported by Land Securities Group supports 1,300 children from thirteen schools around the UK as they study a never before seen play by multi-award winning children’s author Jamila Gavin entitled ‘A Singer from the Desert Came’. The play is set in the future and is a prediction of things to come if global warming is not tackled and if anti-social behaviour continues to escalate!
As well as learning about environmental and social issues, the children’s creative talents and imagination will be developed as they seek new and innovative ways to bring ‘A Singer from the Desert Came’ to life by building their own sets and designing their own costumes from recycled materials
The project will end with a grand, national finale celebrating the work of all the children involved, held at the Unicorn Theatre in January 2008.
